Liverpool Chasing Manchester City Like a Madman In The Title Race

Liverpool Still Chasing Manchester

As per the report, after defeating Aston Villa by 2-1 on Tuesday, Liverpool is now chasing Manchester City in the Premier League. It may be noted that both the teams are now same points. But Manchester City is on top in terms of goal difference, and they also have a match in a match in hand with Wolves on Wednesday.

Well, Liverpool can ill-afford another slip-up after the match against Tottenham and end with 1-1. On the other hand, on that day, the team showed its worst possible start as Douglas Luiz fired Villa.

However, Joel Matip managed to level, and Sadio Mane’s fine kept the team in contention for the tournament.

Commenting on the progress of the team, Klopp said that the team is still chasing like mad, and they will give their best to win the match. They will not miss any opportunity that can lead them to the FA Cup Final.

Well, even though the team has witnessed an impressive victory, it came at a cost. Fabinho is suffering from a muscle injury, and it is not sure whether he can participate in FA Cup Final that will be held on Saturday and the Champions League final match that will be played on 28th May against Real Madrid.

While there was no place left in the team for Andy Robertson, Thiago Alcantara and Mohamad Salah were left on the bench. The team has not yet decided who will replace Fabinho for the coming matches.

Last season, Villa won 7- 2 in the match. But this time, after losing early, Liverpool made a great comeback with an impressive performance.

While Mane’s header was a few inches wide, Naby Keita from Liverpool missed a penalty kick with the goal gaping. On the other hand, Danny Ings failed to deal with Lucas Digne’s inviting cross.

Header By Mane

The hectic schedule of Liverpool started to show physically when Fabinho left the field after his hamstring injury in the first half.

But Liverpool managed to move through the second period to show the competition between the teams.

However, Liverpool went through the gears in the second period to show the gulf in class between the sides.

Gerrard said they would have to capitalize on the major moments that they have created throughout the game. But the sad thing was that he didn’t score twice in the match. Against one of the finest teams in the world, the team were brave, gutsy and ambitious.

Luis Diaz’s return in January has helped Klopp’s team to remain in contention for four major titles.

The Colombian set up the winner by teasing Tyrone Mings before making a pinpoint cross for Mane.

As Villa tried to expose their finest line, Liverpool had some nervous moments in the final quarter.  Ings failed to capitalize twice. However, Liverpool is still competing and hoping that Gerrard will come to their rescue in the race for the championship trophy.

Gerrard, who has never won a league match during his playing career, will lead Viall to play against Manchester City on the last day of the season at The Etihad.
